What is the hemorrhoidal disease?

Each person has a vascular plexus around the anus, which mainly consists of veins. This plexus of blood vessels can be compared with the seal, which helps to close the rectal hole. Often during the life this plexus enlargesunder the influence of various factorsand starts to interfere. This is what we know as hemorrhoidal disease or hemorrhoids.

How does hemorrhoidal disease make itself felt?

The symptoms are very different. Discomfort in the rectum, itching, bloody excreta, bleeding during the defecating, bowel inflammation (painful, swollen formations in the anal area). In the later stages hemorrhoids prolapse during the defecating or physical exercises.

	Stage 3. The prolapse of internal hemorrhoids during phisical activity or exertion. They do not return on their place after reducing of phisical exertion without the help of a hand.
	Stage 4. Internal hemorrhoids are permanently outside of anus, they can not be returned on their place even with the help of the hand.

Can patients diagnose hemorrhoidal disease themselves? Can hemorrhoids be treated by traditional medicine?

On question of the proctologist about their complaints, patients often respond:  "I have hemorrhoids." During a further conversation it appears that the patient diagnosed the disease him(her)self. Sometimes, the proctologist confirms the view of the patient after the examination.

Unfortunately, in some cases the examination shows that patients with self diagnosis "hemorrhoids" hasmore serious disease (cancer, rectal inflammation, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, etc.). It is  particularly tragic when a cancer is in advanced stage and it is late to take any action.

Is it true thatproblems with hemorrhoids can be solved only by a surgery?

There are many opinions, that the surgeon-proctologist operates each patient, who comes with such problems. Modern treatment generally consists in laser treatment.

Does the patient need to do any special preparations before visiting the proctologist?

Before the first visit, you do not need to do any special preparations. Many people think that they must not eat and drink the whole day before the visit or have to clean the intestines using the medicines. It is not necessary. Ifthe patient subjectively feels such a need , he/she can make a microclysters with medications available at any pharmacy without prescription. But it is optional.
